AIMCET Exam 2015
AIMCET (All India MCA Common Entrance Test) is organized on all
India level by IIT Roorkee for the admission in MCA (Master of Computer
Application) course which is offered by leading IIT’s and Universities as well
as colleges.
Educational Qualifications: 10+
2 with Math stream and Graduation of 3 yrs course duration from a renowned
University.
Application Fees: The fee charges
are Rs.1300/- for all the category except SC/ST which is Rs.650/-
Exam Pattern: Multiple Choice
questions comprising of 4 main sections of Mathematics of 100 marks, computer
Awareness of 40 Marks, Analytical ability & Logical Reasoning of 40marks
and General Awareness of 20 marks. The negative marking prevails.

1. Mathematics:
Algebra (Fundamental operations in Algebra, Expansion,
factorization, simultaneous linear, quadratic equations, indices, logarithms,

theorem, permutations and combinations, surds, determinants, matrices and
application to solution of simultaneous linear equations.)
Co-ordinate Geometry (Rectangular Cartesian co-ordinates,
equations of a line circle,midpoint, intersections etc., equations of a
distance formulae, pair of straight lines, parabola, ellipse and hyperbola,
simple geometric transformations such as translation, rotation, scaling.)
Calculus (Limit of functions, continuous functions, differentiation
of functions(s),Tangents and normal, simple examples of maxima and minima,
definite integral application to volumes and surfaces of frustums of a sphere,
cone Integration of function by parts, by substitution and by partial fraction,
cylinder, Taylor Series.)
Differential Equations (Differential equations of first order and
there solutions, and homogenous linear differential equations, linear
differential equations with constant coefficients.)
Vector (Position vector, additions and subtraction of vectors,
scalar and vector products and their applications to simple geometrical
problems and mechanics)
Trigonometry (Simple identities, trigonometric equations,
properties of triangles, solution of triangles, height and distance, inverse
function)
Probability and Statistics (Basic concepts of probability
theory, Averages, Dependent and independent events, frequency distributions,
random variable and distribution functions, mathematical expectations, and
measures of dispersions, skewness and kurtosis, Binomial, Poisson, normal
distributions, curve fitting, and principle of least squares, correlation and
regression)
Linear Programming (Formulation of simple linear programming
problems, basic concepts of graphical and simplex methods)
2. Computer Awareness:
Computer Basics Organization of a computer, Central Processing
Unit (CPU), memory organization, back-up devices. Structure of instructions in
CPU, input / output devices, computer memory.
Data Representation of characters, integers, and fractions,
binary and hexadecimal representations, Binary Arithmetic: Addition,
subtraction, division, multiplication, Boolean algebra, truth tables, Venn
diagrams, single arithmetic and two complement arithmetic, floating point
representation of numbers, normalized floating point representation,
Computer Architecture Block structure of computers,
communication between processor and I / O devices, interrupts
Computer Language Assembly language and high level language,
Multiprogramming and time sharing operating systems, Computer Programming in C.

3. Analytical Ability and
Logical Reasoning:
It covers logical reasoning, quantitative reasoning,
visuo-spatial reasoning
4. General Awareness:
It carries questions to test the general awareness about business,
finance, industry, scientific inventions, transportation, governance,
healthcare and cultural dimensions etc
