Exam Details: Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET 2012) is an entrance examination conducted each year for admission to various Undergraduate medical/dental/engineering/architecture courses  in the colleges and universities across Karnataka. Karnataka CET is conducted and regulated by Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA). The admission through KCET 2012 is open only to the Karnataka residents, however there are some seats under management quota which are for the non Karnataka students.
 
About KCET: The Karnataka CET (KCET) examination, since 1984, has been conducted every year by the Government of Karnataka for admission in the Engineering and Medical Colleges of this state. The admission process through the KCET is not only open for medical and engineering courses but several other courses which include Dental, Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Unani, Yoga, Naturopathy and Architecture. Karnataka, being one of the hottest educational destinations in India, every year, this place gets swarmed by students from all parts of the nation.

Exam Pattern: The KCET will have 120 objective type questions. 50% questions from Physics & Chemistry and the rest 50% questions from mathematics / biology. Thestudents have to choose Mathematics or Biology. The CET is divided in to two parts, the first part lasts for 2.30 hours (150 minutes) and consists questions from physics and Chemistry Mathematics in the second part for 01 hour 20 minutes (80 minutes) for engineering courses.

Examination is being conducted in a single day in the following subjects:

a.)
Physics
b.)
Chemistry
c.)
Mathematics

First Paper:
The examination for this paper will be held in first session. This paper will contain 120 questions from Physics and Chemistry. The duration of examination is 2.00 hour 30 minutes. The maximum marks allotted are 120.

Second Paper:
The second paper is Mathematics of 01 hour 20 minutes. This paper carries 60 questions of 60 marks. The examination will be held in Second session. for the student who want to get admission in medical field will give biology paper which is of 80 minutes and consist of 60 question.

Each question carries one mark and there is no negative evaluation for wrong answers.

How to get the application Form:

1.) The KCET application forms are distributed in the months of October and November. Almost all the leading dailies of India carry advertisement notification of the forms.

2.)
Students who are applicants for appearing in the Karnataka CET exams and completed 12th std residing outside the Karnataka state within the territory of India, can procure the prospectus which contains the application form by “SPEED POST”.

3.)
By sending the demand draft of Rs 750/- in favor of “The EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF KARNATAKA EXAMINATION AUTHORITY, BANGALORE” , in a self addressed cloth-lined  envelope of 25cmX30cm. Candidates outside India wants to appear in the admission, they have to send demand draft of Rs 5000/- the content on the envelope should be either in English of kannada language, and on the envelope boldly super scribed “REQUEST FOR CET-2011 BROCHURE”.
